Files (media library)
Upload images once, reuse them across emails. Drag any file straight onto the canvas.
The Files drawer is your media library. Upload images, GIFs, and PDFs once, and reuse them across every email, template, and module in your account.
Opening the drawer
Click the Files button in the top toolbar (folder icon, next to Settings). A drawer slides in over the canvas with thumbnails of every file in your account.
Two ways to use the drawer
Click mode — pick a file for the selected image
If you have an image selected on the canvas, opening the drawer and clicking a file replaces the selected image's source. This is the fastest way to swap an image's content without dragging.
You can also use the Replace image button in the image format toolbar — same drawer, same flow.
Drag mode — drop a file anywhere
Grab a file in the drawer and drag it out. The drawer auto-closes the moment your drag starts, leaving the canvas fully visible. Drop the file where you want it:
- Onto an existing element inside a column — the image inserts before or after that element.
- Onto an empty column or hero — the image fills the column.
- Between two sections — a new section with an image is inserted there.
- Above the first or below the last section — a new section is created at that boundary.
A ghost bar shows you where the drop will land before you release.
Uploading
In the drawer header:
- Upload — opens a file picker. You can also drag files from your desktop directly into the drawer.
- From URL — paste an image URL; EmailBuilder fetches it and adds it to your library.
Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, SVG. Maximum 10 MB per file.
Organising
- Search — type in the search box at the top of the drawer; filenames are matched.
- Tags — add tags when uploading (or later) for cross-cutting organisation that doesn't depend on filenames.
- Folders — group files by purpose (campaigns, brand assets, …). Drag a thumbnail onto a folder name to move it.
Where files live
All uploaded files go through EmailBuilder's CDN, which serves them as https://cdn.emailbuilder.ai/<account>/<file>. This URL is what gets baked into the <mj-image src="…"> of every email — when you send, recipients fetch the image from our CDN.
Because the URL is owned by EmailBuilder, an image you uploaded once is available to every email you send, forever, without separate hosting setup.
Editing images
For images hosted in your library, an Edit image button appears in the image format toolbar (above the canvas) when the image is selected. It opens a built-in image editor for cropping, resizing, rotating, drawing on, and annotating the image without leaving the editor — see the Image editor page.
Sharing files across accounts
Files in your account are private by default. If you have multiple accounts (e.g. one per brand) and want to share assets, ask support to enable cross-account file access for a specific pair — there's no self-serve toggle yet.
