About the Pet Adoption Event Email Template

Animal shelters and rescue organizations need more than a flyer to fill adoption events — they need an email that moves people. Built for nonprofit coordinators, shelter marketers, and rescue volunteers, this pet adoption event template combines an eye-catching event details block with a curated pet showcase to turn curious subscribers into committed adopters. The invite-style layout creates urgency and warmth simultaneously, making it the ideal format for driving foot traffic to adoption days.

When to use this template

Send the first email 10-14 days before the adoption event to build awareness, followed by a reminder 48 hours before doors open. Trigger a final send the morning of the event for last-minute attendees. Pair with behavioral triggers for subscribers who clicked pet profiles but have not yet RSVP'd or visited the shelter.

Best practices for animals & pet supplies emails

Lead the pet showcase with animals closest to their adoption deadline to create genuine, ethical urgency.
Write each featured pet's blurb in first-person voice to build an immediate emotional bond with the reader.
Place the event date, address, and hours in a visually isolated block so skimmers cannot miss critical logistics.
Use a single, high-contrast call-to-action button per pet card to prevent click fatigue across the showcase section.
Include a secondary ask for volunteers or donors so non-adopters still have a meaningful way to participate.
